NORTH NORFOLK SWIM PROGRAMME

New Winter 2022 Course
What: This is a 10-week programme comprising ~ 20 - 25min of technique work and ~ 30-min of higher intensity training.
Where: Gresham School, Holt, Norfolk
When: Thursdays, 13th January 2022 to 24th March 2022 - 7 - 8 pm (10-weeks)
Why: Structured triathlon swim training sessions with the added benefit of technical coaching.
Who: Any swimmer who can swim at least 1800m in an hour,
Price: £85 for 10 coached sessions; includes a complimentary subscription to our member's area which contains videos, articles and other resources to help improve your swimming.
Lanes are designated by pace, so you’ll be able to get the best out of yourself for a full hour, alongside other like-minded athletes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do the sessions work?
We have 5 lanes, each lane will have a specific pace range so you know that those in your lane are roughly the same ability. The outline for each weeks session is the same, but each lane will have its own version appropriate to the level of swimmer.
I've never done drills before how will I know what to do?
Prior to the session, you will be able to see our detailed videos on techniques required for the session. During the session, the coaches will help you to improve your execution of the drill and your full stroke.
How fast do I need to be?
In these sessions, the slowest lane will cover ~ 2km in each session, the fastest swimmers will cover ~ 3.3km. This includes the drills and rest intervals in the session so you need to be able to swim more than this distance in one go.
How many people are in each lane?
We limit each lane to a maximum of 6 people so you can get the best session without overcrowding.
What equipment will I need?
Fins and a pull buoy are essential for most of the drills and we use paddles in some sessions. A snorkel is a useful toy to have for some of the drill sessions but not an essential one.
What happens if I can't make a week?
You will have the training session in your calendar in the member's area, so you can still do the session in your own time and stay on track with the rest of the group, but you obviously won't get the feedback on that session.
Using the approach developed by ITT head coach, Mark Pearce, the session will introduce you to drills and techniques to help develop your stroke, including aspects such as:
- Breathing control
- Body position
- Feel for the water
- Pull and Propulsion
All of these combine to reduce your drag and increase your propulsion.

Once signed up you will have access to the Intelligent Triathlon Training member's area which has more information on some of the techniques and exercises we use and it will have the weekly schedule for the sessions. You can download the phone app and have all this info available whenever you need it.
We have 5 lanes in the pool with a range of paces, so you know you are always swimming with people of a similar ability.
